the scrutiny on the attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi but that may be ending now. last night an independent report by the accountability review board issued a devastating critique of the state department saying "grossly inadequate security on the day of the attack and in the months leading up to it and a reliance on local militias left u.s. diplomats vulnerable in libya. without any meaningful defense on september 11th leading to tragic results for ambassador chris stevens and three other americans that were killed. report absolves the pentagon of any plablame." secretary hillary clinton responded in a letter to house and senate committee saying she accepts everyone of the panel's recommendations and has taken steps to improve security at high-threat posts. the consulate in benghazi is bombed, we sit around and talk how do we make sure this doesn't happen again? ramp up security? how do we prevent that from happening. when people have a problem with healthcare, how do you solve the problem. here or with any other rampant shooting that occurs way too much in this country if you even talk about -- try to have a conversation of can gun control play a role, play a factor. you're shouted down. people have called for costas to resign, to be fired for these kinds of things. >> bill: it's true. if there's any mass murder here, you can talk about every aspect of it. trayvon martin, you can talk about every aspect of it. you cannot mention there was a gun involved. same thing with this murder suicide, jason belcher -- javon belcher. right, murder, suicide tragic case. but you can talk about again any aspect of it. were there head injuries involved you know, was she out partying, got home too late. did he crack? were there any signs? but you cannot mention the gun right? you cann

. she doesn't even -- she managed to dodge the whole situation on benghazi pretty well for herself. you know, the tougher questions are being faced by her old foe, the president right now, who's in this incredibly difficult position. and losing stwo nominees is not a small thing. it does impact the rest of the budget debate, too. >> and what newt gingrich is also saying is that she would be very difficult to beat. that's what you hear around washington is that republicans who used to love the idea of having hillary clinton out there as the latest pinata, they're very worried that that's going to mean three democratic wins in a row. richard's point about how she's -- how the record that she has as secretary of state, they backed off her. secretary clinton's people point out that her polls are as high as they've ever been, despite this publicity. there's been no decline in her standing. so republicans who are salivating at the idea of having her for fund-raising and having her because she's great copy, but they also realize that ee electree electric torally, she's a huge threat. >> mike a
